Business Improvement e-Business ImplementationYesterday it was my first lecture for Avans Hogeschool in Breda. The subject of the lecture was e-Business Implementation as part of the e-Business Master. It was very exciting for me to be standing there in from of a bunch of people, who are ready to hear my lecture. After the lunch I went to Breda. My first steps into the school reminded my of the times I had at school a couple of years ago. It felt ok, but I still was a bit jumpy.

Me? Digital Native?

I guess I am. But what is a digital native. “A digital native is a concept introduced by author Marc Prensky in 2001. It refers to today’s students – “native speakers” of the digital language of computers, mobile phones, video gaming and the Internet” (source: Gartner)

But how does this apply to me? First of all I do have the hardware. I have a laptop via which (finally, thank you KPN)  I can go online and surf the web. I have a mobile phone on which I can also surf the internet. And most of all, I have the XBox, on which I do not (yet) go online. So my online identity and presence is growing rapidly. You can read about me through the following websites:

My online presence is important to me because it is a substancial part of my job. I researching the possibilities of my employer to “grow” to an Enterprise 2.0. The near future tells us, according to Gartner, that it is very important to stay in touch with the Digital Natives in order to get them to work for you. What has to be done to reach that point is for us to find out. We are a long way in finding the right things to do, but we are far away from actually doing so.

My biggest challenge is to determine the path to Enterprise 2.0, especially because it is new and fresh. I have found the most amazing presentation about Enterprise 2.0 - Enterprise 2.0 – Enabling change or part of the problem?
