Last Friday I went to Burggolf Zoetermeer with Lyon, Ferry and Eelco. Before we went to Zoetermeer I bought a new hybrid (Callaway) and golf car with 3 wheels (Klick ‘n Go). The advantage of a 3-wheel car is that I don’t have to lure around the car but can push the car without any stress on my arms or shoulders. And it worked. I was less tired after walking 18 holes. But that is not where I want to talk about today.
We started at 14:48h, but we were too late so we started ten minutes later after two couples started at our time. We saw that run of with 2 golf carts and afterwards we could perfectly understand why. Man, what a difference in height and what a walk. I started ok. A couple of personal pars (not lane pars) and stableford points further I lost my concentration and missed some simple shots.
After we completed the first 9 holes, Eelco joined us. He had to play first at the 10th and did very well. The first ball went straight on towards to hole. I played 4 on the par4 and was back in the game. So I thought. The 11th wasn’t good at all. I needed about 6 strokes to complete the par3. It was very busy at the course and after a couple of holes the people behind us were hurrying us. And if there’s one thing I hate while playing golf is to be hurried by others. I completely lost my concentration and I was irritated, as a result losing my game.
At the end, I only had 25 Stableford points. I did have a very nice flight, the weather was very good, the new club and my new cart were very good, so that was not the cause. I need to practice more.
This week I’ll be at the golfcourse, training for the next match at the 31st of May. This ANWB Golf (Pin High Surprise Tour) match will be played at Dorhout Mees (Biddinghuizen). I hope that I’ll play better than the last couple of courses.
